Share/Winny Download BBS

This is an English-language BBS for the Japanese file sharing applications Share and Winny.

You may link to Share and/or Winny binaries, but nothing illegal. Hashes are acceptable, though. Just no binary files except those two programs. Do NOT beg for someone to download something from the two networks and torrent the content.

Keep requests for files, hashes, support, etc. in one respective thread each.

It depends on how popular are the media that you're looking for. OSTs are always hard to find in these networks, since they're not as popular like complete anime series or full album sets from those artists.

As of today, Share is 100% useless (for me) for grabbing OSTs, and music from certain artists. On the other side, Perfect Dark is nice for music, even for old discs :) Haven't tried with OSTs yet, so...

>>841

AVOID English/Romaji in your cluster words ("Music" is not a good one...). Often music can be found easily in lossless formats (APE, TTA, FLAC, and a few obscure rips in TAK), so try with "EAC" as a cluster. I forgot which one is exactly the japanese word for "album"... "OST" may work, may not... but as i had explained, Share is almost hopeless for OSTs.

Try on PD, or in one of the gazillons of asian/japanese music/anime torrents (or IRC), those are (IMHO) better sources than Share/PD and any P2P sources in general.

It should do, as long as the drive letter does not change between each run, and obvioulsy, the external drive should be plugged and mounted before running Share :)

Talking about external drives... Has anyone tried moving Share or PD cache to another path, like a network share? I'm running out of space in my laptop, but have plenity of room on my storage box, so it would be a good idea to place my cache/unity there... Any suggestions?

Perfect Dark general support and help thread (113)

Homepage of Perfect Dark(I think)
http://www21.atwiki.jp/botubotubotubotu/
There is no english wikipedia link for it yet...

At this moment, the most recent version is 0.961
Titled "the most adaptable to change".

I think it's wise to keep all the PD related questions in a single thread. So yeah, use this one.

104 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-04-25 19:10 ID:ps3JmGYr [Del]

trying again and again has worked. running 1.04

105 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-04-25 19:41 ID:eNTaY592 [Del]

Reading Wikpedia changelog for PD page, it says that 1.040 is ACTUALLY 1.020 (this explains the 1.02 on the changelog); Kaicho just bumped the version number...

Looks like 1.030 had some nasty issues or something more critical... so he decided to roll back to good ol' 1.020. This may also explain the crashes (and why 1.030 had the classic PD icon instead of the new one)

106 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-04-26 08:26 ID:AqQx71TR [Del]

SHIT! PD 1.030 is indeed a unity killer! My 8GB unity is now down to 300MB :( (and in my other box, i lost about 200MB from about 2 GB)

So... stay away from 1.030. If you haven't updated yet from 1.020, good for you. If you still are on 1.030, UPDATE NOW!

Fortunately, i'm now on 1.040, but the harm to the network has been done. Bad, Kaicho, bad :(

> "search total number" = "65536"

Is this for the total number of search results, or the number of search results for a single tag?

108 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-04-29 15:49 ID:smzTiCDv [Del]

>>107

Total. The number of search results per tag is limited to 1000.

109 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-05-03 08:22 ID:NoSnDlEW [Del]

>>106

And where did you get version 1.04?

Mine won't update :/

110 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-05-03 12:43 ID:6/khlYRb [Del]

Enable Autoupdate in your settings, then wait a while and PD will update itself

(you should also have noticed the text "New version detected!" in red letters on PD information tab)

111 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-05-08 12:38 ID:o2K3sC5O [Del]

Every time I try to search for 乙女ゲーム on PD, I get ~50 results, which seems an awfully miniscule number, and I'm not running any other searches either. Is PD limiting the number of results, or is that all that exists on the network? What can I do to make my searches more efficient?

Thanks for any replies.

I'd say that's all there is. PD isn't so good at every area.

113 Name: Eric Post : 2009-06-28 08:28 ID:ev7G5Pzp [Del]

You have to remember PD is always downloading files. Most of these are garbage. The idea is that if you get caught downloading files, you have "plausable deniability." In otherwords you can say I didn't know I was downloading those files, because all the files are encrypted, you don't know what is being downloaded.

So PD is constantly downloading the correct files AND garbage files too. This explaines why you can download a gig and your unity size won't change. This is because as it downloads, it deletes a file.

In Japan broadband is almost all symetrical, meaning that you get the same upload as download speed. In the USA, Canada, Aussie, NZ and Europe (etc) broadband is asymetrical. You usually get 3/1. For example if you download, 1000kbs your line will top out at 333kbs upload.

PD is for people with really fast connections. The Japanese will get on, stay an hour then leave. This makes for very, very slow downloads for people without an equal connection.

Is "Perfect Dark" = "Share ex3" , and how to translate ? (132)

1 Name: KraftonZ : 2007-04-26 04:12 ID:3EACyoKp [Del]

Hello !

A new encrypted and anonymised p2p is born in Japan: "Perfect Dark"

I read badly the japanese: is "Perfect Dark" the new version of Share (share ex3) or it's totaly different ?

Because i read that the name "share" is a "tentative name" for this program ....so "Perfect dark" could be the true name for 'share ex3' (???)

--------------

And, how to translate "Perfect Dark" in another idioms ?
(English,French,suomi,basque ?)

thank you

123 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2008-08-16 15:34 ID:D58IGVjy [Del]

In the "download" view, sometimes files are displayed on a black background, sometimes files have a red background. What does this mean?

124 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2008-08-17 09:13 ID:LgXF4MHA [Del]

Red highiligted stuff means updated metadata (for files: scores, comments, extended file information), and new posts (for boards). You can view such stuff on the embedded browser (for files: right-click->View, then go to "View" tab)

HINT: To view all scores for a file, click "View XML"... and you will get all the metadata in a nice XML file ;) Same for boards.

125 Name: Dororo : 2008-08-17 10:55 ID:HGZvY/b+ [Del]

Do you know whether PD developers are working on enabling some form of NAT Trasversal support? Basically when you're NATted and "online, open ports not confirmed" is the same as "offline", the client doesn't work anyway.

126 Name: Exillion : 2008-08-18 09:07 ID:tuBN/8Iu [Del]

Hmm, for some reason, PD won't connect anymore.
I'm using V1.02 and have my pc directly connected.
No firewalls running.

Hi,

every few minutes a window is popping up and telling me that the cache has been deleted. I have to confirm this with OK (no choice) and then the unity is back to 0. I don't think it is supposed to be like that. I had to change the cache and download folder to a different partition but instead of backslashes it is showing Yen signs in the directory path. Could that be the problem?

Please someone help me.

128 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2008-10-25 07:20 ID:9ATya4zf [Del]

PD sux and whoever thought 40 GB of forced unity shit would be a great idea should go fuck himself with a retractable baton.

I use Share because it just works.

129 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2008-10-25 16:42 ID:MrW8OYvS [Del]

>>127

In the last days i got that error at least twice. Odd...

The "yen-as-backslash" issue may be related with language/codepages on Windows. AFAIK, in most Japanese Wintendo PCs, backslashes appear as yen symbols. This is normal, and should not affect nothing.

>>128
Share no longer works for me :( And yes, PD network implementation is quite retarded, as of today. But it (mostly) works ;)

130 Name: Kuro : 2008-11-06 14:18 ID:SWOhQEqe [Del]

Well, I just set up PD and am waiting for it to download at least 2gb cache. Hopefully this thing works and will start downloading.
If this program works people should move over from share to PD (as its the newest evolution) so we can all be on one network. And PD being in english is very nice, as more people will use it.

131 Name: 4n0n : 2008-11-21 13:50 ID:2040j6TZ [Del]

Just found out about and installed PD today. Already downloaded several files, good stuff and fast connection even before I uploaded anything.

I do really like this program it seems well written. The interface is very cool, somewhat groundbreaking even with the two interchangeable/mirrored control areas.

132 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-06-27 15:49 ID:mP+REHm8 [Del]

Just catched this PD flow...

perfect darkの暗号が破られた!!

http://slashdot.jp/security/09/05/15/004219.shtml

A rough translation says that NetAgent (again!) has "broken" Perfect Dark encryption... and they now have a crawler that can tell you how many people is in the network, what's being shared, and such things. Also, they have estimated the daily user count of PD in about 35K-40K users... much less than Share and Winny.

So... if you're paranoid, you can stop using PD right now :(

port error in share (19)

1 Name: mazinger 2005-09-10 07:22 ID:LKtKVcxg [Del]

Hello:

Since 09/09/2005 in the morning I've had problems with Share. It just stopped working. I get an error message in the log that says: Disconnected due to port error. Before this the program was working fine.

I checked the router, nothing was changed. I disabled my firewall software, but again the same error. I even changed the ports to the same ones as emule and tested the ports within emule first to find out if everything was working fine. The port test passed, but Share keeps disconnecting.

Share connects but in about 1 minute it disconnects. I'm using version A82.

I even tried the program in another computer and, after reprogramming the router properly for this computer, Share still does not connect. The program was always working fine in both computers (I has tested it first on the second computer before installing it in the first one). I really don't know what else can be done.

Post too long. Click to view the whole post or the thread page.

I tried to use the [PDK10] ClusterWordCollector 0.2 plugin, but it returns mostly ??? ????? ?? etc. My locale is set to Japan, and Japanese text displays correctly in other programs. Anyone else have this problem? Or perhaps a solution? Or even perhaps just the proper output from the plugin?

Are you sure everything is set to japanese. Under the language settings in control panel there should be three different places that need to be switched from english to japanese.

4 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2006-10-21 14:49 ID:U+BGJi/3 [Del]

you only need to set 2 options to japanese actually, if you're running windows xp go to regional and language options, first tab regional options set standards and formats to japanese (important), location does NOT matter, then go to advanced tab and set japanese as well

According to http://ja.wikipedia.org about Share, fending off Sharebot is apparently possible with the use of the DiffusionProClone plug-in.
Since I can't make out the rest of the details on exactly how to accomplish this, it'd be nice if someone could provide the translation for it, thankyou.

Mac (4)

1 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-05-29 09:57 ID:fnSXY/8R [Del]

I know this is going to sound silly, but does Winny/Share/Perfect Dark for mac exist?

2 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-05-30 13:56 ID:w4AH+RGS [Del]

None of these programs have Mac versions, and it's extremely unlikely that they will offer Mac versions in the future.

If you have a Intel Mac, you may want to try with Wine (http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX - only for experienced users!). Or if you can pay, CrossOver Mac (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/ )

If you have a PowerPC Mac... sorry, the native Wine port for PPC Macs is abandonded since 2005 :( And CrossOver Mac has no PPC support.

In all cases, you can always use a virtual machine instead - Virtual PC, Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox... however, you will also need to provide your own Windows setup disc, but this solution is the easiest one.

3 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-05-30 14:13 ID:w4AH+RGS [Del]

Oh, i forgot to mention...

  • If you go for the Wine route... only Winny and Perfect Dark will work. Share does not run as of today in Wine. The same thing may also apply on CrossOver, since they share the same codebase (CrossOver is the commercial version of Wine)

3 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2009-05-10 08:49 ID:7cn9zsmN [Del]

hit convert file and it will convert to the missing block naming in temp. (file name) you can't convert the rest you have to wait until the download is finished

4 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2009-05-10 09:39 ID:Djt5AdvP [Del]

>>3 is right. You can't convert partial downloads skipping missing blocks, "Convert file" will stop at the first missing block.

As of today, Perfect Dark lacks plugin support of any class.

[Perfect Dark] Font size of the file names is too small (10)

1 Name: Anonymous(bin+cue).zip : 2008-04-06 05:44 ID:YlkomaJj [Del]

HI,
my Perfect Dark is running now and everything works fine unless the font size of the file namas is too small. Is it possible that the text of the file names can be enlarged.

Awaiting your reply

2 Name: Tom Maneiro : 2008-04-06 11:44 ID:HANVB2sh [Del]

This is easy to fix:

  • In Settings dialog, click "other" tab, and then, "write mutagen"
  • Close Perfect Dark, and go to "mutagen" folder
  • Edit "visual.txt" with Notepad: the font size can be set at "default font size" and "eye font size". Don't forget the quotes: all values must be enclosed in quotes, or PD will reject them.
  • You can also change the font there to a more nicer/readable font. I suggest you to use "Arial Unicode MS", size 16.
