My unity folder is stuck at 12MB, yet my total send is 2.6 gigs and total receive is 2.8 gigs, what the hell is it doing sending all that information yet it's not growing? I have had 10 files set to DL but it says they're sleeping for the past 2 days, is this related the unity thing? Cause I think it said I needed 2000MB unity folder first...

I'm downloading several files but still blank...
■DLが始まらない幾つかの原因について
①：接続回線の種類を間違えて設定している場合は、接続が頻繁に切れる為まともにDL出来ません。
つまり、接続回線の詐称には何の旨味もありません。接続回線の種類を正しく設定し直して下さい。
②：接続要求が多くて順番待ちの状態になっている場合は、暫くDLが始まりません。
あなたは行列が出来る店の前で並んでいる様な状態です。気長に待ちましょう。
③：ネットワーク上に実身を持っているノードが接続していない場合は、暫くDLが始まりません。
実身を持っているノードが接続してくるまで気長に待ちましょう。
④：ネットワーク上の完全な実身が何らかの理由で既に消滅していて仮身だけが在る場合（仮身の寿命は、実身が消えてから3日経過するまで）、
幾ら待ってもDLできません。再放流を依頼するか諦めて下さい。
⑤：Unity（キャッシュ）が満タンの状態と空きがある（スッカラカン）状態では、通信量もDLの落ちて来易さも全然違います。
自動DL（dht）分の2GBがなかなか溜まらず、ファイルをDLできない場合は最低でも2GB分のファイルをULして下さい。
又、すぐにでも最適な稼働状態にしたい場合は、最大Unity設定値の半分までファイルをULして下さい。
※自動DL（dht）分の2GBは、Unity用の最低40GBに含まれます。
※自動DL（dht）分の2GBが溜まるとPDの動作が、自動DL（dht分）優先から手動DL優先に切り替ります。
普通に稼働してる様に見え始めるのは、最大Unity設定値の半分【dht＋du分（自動DL分を含む）】が溜まってからです。
つまり、Unity即消しには何の旨味もありません。自分のDL効率を下げているだけです。
またDLし易くする為に、故意に「捏造・キーワード間違い・アフィリエイト・ウイルス」等のファイルを流し続けると、
あなたの仮身は各ノードに無視登録されるか有害評価を受け、以後のファイルをなかなかDLしてもらえないという状況に陥ります。
⑥：①～⑤を試しても症状が改善されない場合は、PD本体のバグの可能性が有ります。
ボードの『perfect dark 総合ボード』にテンプレを使用して詳細なバグ報告を書き込んで下さい。
※ADSL1.5M以下の回線を利用されている方は、回線速度が遅いためになかなか自動DL（dht）分の2GBが溜まらない場合があります。
その場合は、一時的に自動DL（dht）分の2GBが溜まるまで回線速度設定をADSL4Mに変更して下さい。
自動DL（dht）分の2GBが溜まった後は、①の理由により回線速度設定を元の正しい設定に戻して下さい。
I recently changed computers and copied my PD and unity folders (latter was 27GB) to my new computer. For some reason, PD refuses to go online now no matter what folder I assign as the unity folder. I can only get it to work by deleting perfect dark.sekai. Is there any way to get it to use the old unity folder? How should I have migrated the program?

dude, just add something to your upload that is 2 gigs. it will then create a 2 gigs cache (unity).

My PD cache didn't growed at all... until i fed it with some gigs of older Share downloads. You can grow your cache fast: simply upload some delicious files, and you're done. As a side bonus, you help the network to grow, migrating the content from Share/Winny/<put your favorite network here> to PD's mass storage darknet.
It's dead simple. A single DVD ISO or a bunch of episodies of a series will do the job. But please, don't cheat by uploading crap or bogus/dummy/fake files! (anyway, the network will reject them eventually, with the content rating system)
and do not use netlimiter because perfect dark limits download too! this is ownage.
I can not get PD to connect. I have added all the new nodes at that site and the port is open but it just says "Perfect Dark is offline"

Perfect Dark will NOT connect if you don't have enough free upload bandwidth. From my experiments, it requires, at the very least, 5KB/s of upload to start up. If you're running other P2Ps at the same time, hogging your upload, PD will refuse to connect.
As for the connection attempts, i'm not totally clear on this, but if you look at the stats on "Information" tab, you will see a line called "sekai". "Sekai" seems to be PD's node database. It's stored in a file called "perfect dark.sekai" (something like Share's "nodes.db" or Kad "nodes.dat"). In that stat line, check the two last numbers at the end (looks like a fraction, like "2/190" or something like that): the last number seems to be the number of connection attempts. The number just before it seems to be the number of sucessful conections, If it's zero, PD is "offline". If it's between 1 and 5, it's on "firewalled" status, and if it's 5 or higher, you're properly connected, open for uploads and downloads.
Anyone can explain exactly that sekai info line?
Is there a way to make search hits go over 1000 like Share? Share could get a ton of hits for one keyword (3000+ for example).
I have another question: Is it possible to "pause" downloads to download something else?

What kind of algorith does PD use for identifying the files spread across the network?
I mean, Winny uses md5, Share uses sha-1, PD file keys have a 64 characters string, but it's not sha-256 (which is 64-chars long). So what is?
I new to PD but manage to get it running . I try download a file but stop for days at 58% . how do I know if a file has complete source or not, like in share it show in different colour .

I started downloading a lot, and my unity folder had to be bumped to 400gb. My HDD is running out of room, so I need to reduce the unity folder size. What adverse effects will happen if I do so? I need help as soon as possible, it's urgent! Thank you

On topic: Have you set a unity size limit into Options? If you leave that blank, unity will grow until filling your HD. Since you have lots and lots of HD, go and enter a reasonable size limit, then PD should free all the space past the unity size limit.

For some reason all the search results are in really small font. It's extremely hard to read unless I select it and it appears up top with the full file name. All the menus and everything else are regular sized font. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I google-fu'ed furiously about ports too. No luck really. Oh, by the way - I never end up downloading anything from PD. The progress barely moves. Pisses me off, like beyond. So my main question is actually "WHY DONT MY DOWNLOADS START RIGHT AWAY".

Port number is pretty important, depending on if you have a firewall up. I saw from the pics that you're downloading and uploading at a speed that's indicative of an open port, so your port number is fine.
As far as I know, what your port number is doesn't determine anything to do with download time. it's just the speed you send and receive data.
Your bandwidth limit should be set to whatever you feel like downloading or uploading at. If you never reach that limit you can lower it.
From what I understand forty gigs of unity is the minimum, and they say you need at least twenty gigs if you want any efficiency for your downloads. Otherwise just keep it running and you will eventually download, depending on how common the file is.
Like someone earlier posted before, Perfect Dark is still pretty new and still in testing.
I'm a bit used to amule, so I'm a bit worried about what I can do.
1) Yes, because a copy of the downloaded file is already in your unity (cache). Same for Share.
2) Yes, because, as per 1), nothing in the download folder is shared. In these apps, the download folder is private. Also, on Perfect Dark, each file that you would like to release must be UPLOADED BY HAND (unlike Share that seeds everything that you have in your public folders). The only way to flood PD network with junk is... uploading the junk by hand ;) Not useful for spammers, so it's a nice feature.
Even though I sort my results by time, frequently things are added as if older, making it really hard to keep track of new releases. Is there a way to fix this?

If you upload any files, they are first transferred to your unity before being uploaded to the network. The only way uploading files won't increase your unity is if the file is already in your unity.
Is it possible to simply move the unity folder to another partition?
I bought a new HDD since I ran out of space and want to migrate my Share/Perfectdark caches and download folders there.

As far as I know there is no way to get more results.
However, you can work around that using the advanced search.
Most useful is setting the filesize. In fact you can kind of cheat and get as many results as you want. All you have to do is create advanced searches with different file size ranges. Although that's probably unnecessary since depending on what you're looking for you'll know how big it is and can just set generous lower and/or upper limits.
Or you can use the ~ (NOT) operator in your searches. For example if you're looking for an iso, you can add ~mp3 ~avi and so on and those results won't be shown. I haven't used this much yet since just setting a 50mb or so lower limit (depending on what I'm looking for) is enough to weed out enough unwanted results.

What do you mean by cracked? Like you can see IPs cracked? If so, then not that I know of.
Now i'm starting to experience a weird problem with my PD setup: it's now claiming that i don't have a 2000MB unity! (i receive the message that "PD needs to download unity, blah, blah"). Yet my unity folder is at 2828MB!!!
The problem started yesterday after having PD running for a while, suddenly the message appeared, and it now popups each time that i run PD, like a fresh install... It still downloads stuff (although it's quite slow, but that's normal here).
Any suggestions?
If it still works, I wouldn't really worry. Otherwise try clearing your unity, or reinstalling PD.
So I've got PD set up and working, port's open, but I'm not downloading unity at more than about 20kbps... Any ideas?
Unity isn't going to increase significantly over a short period of time unless you upload files or download specific files.

Requires java and more mem, but less disk space and bandwith.
