[Perfect Dark] Connection Type (7)

Do excuse my stupidity: does the "internet connection" box in general settings refer to upload or download speed? All I can see are a bunch of connection types with a speed next to it.

"Internet connection" lists the most common Internet connection types (at least in Japan). Simply pick the one that fits better with your actual connection (for example, if you have 1024K DSL, pick "ADSL 1M"), and PD will adjust the upload/download speeds acording with your selection.

Funny bit: "Dial-up modem" is also listed there. It's pretty much pointless, not only because dial-up TOTALLY SUCKS for P2P, but because PD requires at least 100Kbps for "optimal" performance...

That doesn't really answer the question if they want download or upload speed..

I know that. Currently, there is no way to manually setup the upload/download speeds, so the only way to control it is on "Internet connection" list. I suppose that by picking one type of connection, both speeds should be adjusted to match your option.

IMHO there is room for lots of errors: for example, 1Mbit DSL has 1MB download in all markets, but the upload will be between 256K (or even less), 384K (most markets), and 512K (extremely lucky people in rare markets). I don't know how PD deals with scenarios like that one. Maybe it performs a speed test?

Most probably it just assumes that the speed are same at in japanese lines?

Also, it's pretty weird, I have ~2Mbit shared line, and when I selected 1.5Mbit, all i get was occasional 60kB/s.. With 4Mbit selected , i can get to 90kB/s.. lets try 8Mbit setting :))

i have ~2Mbbit ADSL too, i need select T1/LAN to get decent speedy, 2/4/8Mbit sux and i dont know why...
